Journey into Hypnosis.

Hypnosis is an altered state of consciousness where one has heightened awareness while also profoundly relaxed.  It can feel similar to guided meditation.  However, one important distinction is that meditation helps clear the mind while hypnosis creates change. 

Hypnosis has varying depths -- a lighter state of hypnosis may be more effective for some presenting issues while a deeper state is for others. The experience varies between individuals.  However, all experience deep relaxation. 

You have actually been in hypnosis several times today. Whether it’s driving on auto-pilot, feeling immersed in a movie or story, daydreaming, or even when transitioning between awake and sleep. Your mind is simply more open to suggestions at these times. 

In scientific terms, hypnosis occurs when brain waves are moving at the alpha and theta frequency when you are relaxed but mentally alert.  This is the state that is best for learning.  Hypnotherapy uses this state to your advantage -- positive suggestions for desired change is readily accepted by the subconscious mind.

About Hypnotherapy.

Hypnotherapy sessions combine talk therapy and hypnosis. The client undergoes hypnosis for the latter 15-30 minutes of the session depending on the issue.  The hypnosis integrates insights from the therapy session into the subconscious.  The client leaves the session feeling relaxed, centered, and empowered towards change.
